week 7: Game process with studnets

Week 7: Game process with students:

My first goal was to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. In order to do this I mentioned taking virtual field trips. But, I will also expand this eaching students to use other tools to teach creativity and innovation through blogs, and wikis as well.

My other goal of communicating with students, parents, and peers using email, classroom website, and classroom blogs will also lend itself to teaching students the NETS-S as well. Currently, I have added an Einstein section of my website that students access. This section has students answer challenging questions independently. Students are able to go to the link attached and look up the answers or look in textbooks or other references as well. I feel this addresses the section on research and information fluency of the NETS-S.

  1. I am amazed at the technology that students of this age are working with. For kindergarten, I use a lot of interactive programs working in groups and virtual field trips as well, which I truly believe is a wonderful first step in this pursuit of 21st century learning. But, I wonder at the continuation of tech learning - I have seen very little in my school at higher grades. I am curious, do the rest of the staff at your school include with technology in the the classroom as you do? I am so excited (and a bit envious)for you to be including blogging and wiki use in third grade. Your Einstein section is great! You are doing awesome with your GAME Plan!

  2. I really think the Einstein section is a great learning tool. Do you require students to do a certain number? Is there an easy way to track what your students are doing? I would be interested to learn how this section is setup. I too am amazed that you are using technology tools like blogs and wikis with students in the third grade. I can only imagine how well developed your students' technology skills will be!
